Why should it be any different with women?

All hail Reclusive Leftist's powerful articulation.

That’s why I won’t vote for Obama. I’ll be sending a message to the Democratic party: if you want my vote, then you need to earn it. If you throw me under the bus — me and my sisters and my grandparents and my friends and everybody in this country who isn’t a rich man — then to hell with you.

Go on, Democrats, try to get elected without me — me or any of my friends. See how far you get. Go on with your bad self.

And when you figure out that you need my vote, give me a call.

Testify!

Due respect to non-elitist eunuchs

This is NOT a negative attack on the part of one of Senator Clinton's supporters:

"If she gave him one of her cojones, they'd both have two."
            --James Carville (Newsweek article, 5/2/08)

In fact, James Carville is speaking waaaaaaaaaaay too complimentary of Senator Obama.

Sure, condoning this kind of hypermasculine posturing is just buying into the patriarchy. And it does veer close to stooping to the level of negative personal attacks. And yes, I have been/would be/shall be offended at all of the attacks questioning Senator Clinton's identity, femininity, body, or personal qualities. But you know what? Fuck it. I'll do my feminist penance and say 10 Hail Andrea Dworkin's on November 5. And with President Clinton's swearing in in January it will be that much easier to dismantle the white supremacist capitalist heterosexist patriarchy. James Carville is just reminding us that one shouldn't try to send a boy into to do a woman's job. BAM!

Democratic Primary or Domestic Violence?

This is the saddest post I could (n)ever imagine doing about a primary election campaign, of all things.

First, read Anglachel's recent post.

Then, look at this [replacing "children" with "voters"] and decide for yourself. The key here is not to minimize or trivialize men's violence against women. The point is that it is another symptom of the larger systemic problem--the white supremacist capitalist heteronormative patriarchy.
